Assignment: To optimize the recording environment for the interview subject and organize a tape sync. This particular project required my knowledge of recording technologies. I identified the sound issues within our recording environment, and arranged a more suitable situation for a proper recording. My work with Cole Jackson was the end result.

Assignment: Locate and follow a subject for the purposes of a six-minute documentary piece. This project demanded countless hours of patience, research, and audio production. It was also one of the best learning experiences of my life.

Client: Salt Institute for Documentary Studies
Assignment: Interview subjects on the street in Portland, Maine, about a topic of our choosing. I decided to head out on International Talk Like a Pirate Day and ask people along the wharfs to share their best pirate speak. You can hear this piece on Vocalo.org and on pirate ships worldwide.


Voice of the Voters: Ohio and Texas

Client: The New York Times
Assignment: To collect the opinions of Cincinnati voters during the Ohio primaries using audio recordings and photography. This project required audio production and field recording skills, the ability to perform on a tight deadline, and a willingness to trudge through freezing rain and snowfall.


Cincinnati Magazine: Best Places to Live

Client: Cincinnati Magazine
Assignment: Track down information about Cincinnati’s top ten real estate markets and describe their living potential. Required hours of intensive interviews, neighborhood hopping, research and field work. Not to mention a pile of fact checking.

Serving as the magazine’s Executive Editor, I created a strong concept, developed the magazine’s content, managed an editorial staff, and supervised every aspect of the project from conception to completion.

Client: CiN Weekly
Assignment: Cover four theme bars for the publication’s First Annual Bar Guide. Project included art direction, a sense of adventure, and some very delicious research.
